Amritsar, February 20
British Prime Minister David Cameron, during his last leg of his three-day visit to India, today visited a rice mill here and oversaw the signing of an MoU between Amar Singh Chawal Wala and UK-based East End Foods for exporting about 12,000 tonnes of basmati annually.

The director of the Amritsar firm, Arvinder Pal Singh, quoted Cameron as saying: "It is a great initiative. Aromatic basmati from the fields of Punjab will find a place in England."

The Indian concern will get technical help for in-house laboratory facilities for testing pesticides.

This would ensure greater quality standards. The parties will also collaborate in growing organic basmati here.
